Wrapping up Twenties for 2007-2008

To wrap up our year-long study, many of us shared what we had learned by studying the book of Hebrews. I re-read the entire book before our Thursday night meeting in preparation. I didn't enjoy Hebrews as much as I enjoyed studying Philippians last year. Hebrews has a lot of Old Testament references that are, in my opinion, confusing, overly detailed, and make me feel doubtful. However, as a writer myself, I have to admire the complex language and beautiful metaphors the writer of Hebrews uses to illustrate his points. Check out my favorite part, which also happens to be the opening passage:

"In the past, God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word."

Long story short, if you want to know what God is like (and who doesn't?), all you need to do is read about what Jesus is like.
